Is there an easy way to learn French?
Until now, I really didn't think there was!
I've learned French at School (and made two attempts to learn German). After school I continued to visit France and speak French and also take extra lessons.
- you know, I was never very good at languages!
Then, when I met my wife (she's German), I dropped French and started learning German. Yes, I did all the Goethe Institute course, late on Friday nights (ooh! that was hard).
I've also listened to my wife speaking German to our children, spent weeks with my German relatives (listening lots, speaking a little, and understanding even less)...
So, when I wanted to go back to my French - if any one told me it would be easy - I'd have laughed!
The only thing I was willing to conceed is that French might be easier than German (phew!), and that my school years might help me...
So, when my wife came home with a £60 cassette course - claiming to teach you French in 8 hours, without homework, books or grammar - well..
... I was hopeful - but yes, a little sceptical!
However, I wasn't ready for Michel Thomas (amazingly a Frenchman teaching Brits to speak Spanish, German, Italian - and French too!).
Michel has a completely new approach to learning a language - and that is to get you - the complete beginner - speaking from day one!
Forget the nuances of grammar - as a beginner you just need to be able to handle the basics - order food, arrange your car, swap pleasantries, eat, sleep and have a reasonably good time!
And, Michel's course is fantastic for this!
I recall my (failed) experience of learning German at school - everything was going fine until we reached the Genative, Dative and Accusative cases!
Suddenly, with so much complexity, I found I could hardly utter a sentance and my enthusiasm fell apart.
For anyone (like me) who's suffered the learning of languages the hard way, you can now take the fun and exciting route!
What's more, you can learn it on the journey over to French to check out your French property etc...
So, if you are ready to brush up your French, I recommend this as the least painful way to do it and
Learn French the easy way...
